BigLgbtq is the online home of the “Big Lgbtq+ & Ally Dinner,”
a series of annual fundraising dinners at various trade events throughout the year.
What started as a secret email list for television industry gays and lesbians, has evolved into a proud and public celebration of the entire LGBTQ+ community and allies. We are a collective of individuals and allies dedicated to fostering connection, raising awareness, and providing vital support to LGBTQ+ charities worldwide.Lightboat Media co-hosts these events with various partners, including Verite Entertainment, Cloth Cat, Blue Zoo Media, Karrot Animation and more.
Bringing together professionals and allies, we amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and contribute to a more accepting and equitable world
Why We Do It
Our mission is driven by a deep commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community globally. We believe in creating visible and inclusive spaces at industry events, promoting understanding, and providing tangible assistance to organizations that champion LGBTQ+ rights, offer support to those in need, and work to combat discrimination. By bringing together professionals and allies, we amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and contribute to a more accepting and equitable world.
Since 2023, we have proudly raised thousands of dollars for over half a dozen charities around the world, including:
- Le Refuge: Accommodates and supports young LGBT+ people who are victims of domestic violence or rejected by their families due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.
- San Diego LGBT Center: One of the largest and most vibrant LGBTQ community centers in the U.S., offering extensive programs and services for health, wellness, and human rights.
- SOS homophobie: A French feminist association fighting against lesbophobia, gayphobia, biphobia, transphobia, and intersexophobia through support, prevention, and campaigning.
- Diversity Role Models: A UK-based charity working to end bullying based on sexual orientation and gender identity in schools and promote understanding and acceptance of broader individual differences.
